Sharing your account password with friends or co-admins is a major security risk. Instead, you should use the Sub-User System built into the East Gate Game Panel.
This feature allows you to grant other people access to your server with their own separate login credentials. You can also restrict exactly what they can do (e.g., allow them to restart the server, but block them from deleting files).
Step 1: Navigate to the Users Tab
-
Log in to the East Gate Game Panel.
-
Click on the specific server you wish to manage.
-
On the top menu, look for the Users tab (sometimes labeled "Subusers") and click it.
Step 2: Add a New User
-
Click the blue New User button in the top right corner.
-
User Email: Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
-
Note: If they already have an account on our panel, they will get access immediately. If they do not have an account, the system will send them an email with instructions to set one up.
-
Step 3: Configure Permissions
You do not have to give a sub-user full access. You can check specific boxes to limit their power. Here is a breakdown of the most important permission categories:
-
Control: Allows the user to Start, Stop, and Restart the server. Also allows viewing the console.
-
File: Allows access to the File Manager and SFTP. (Warning: This allows them to download/delete your world data).
-
Backup: Allows them to create or restore backups.
-
Allocation: Allows them to manage extra ports.
-
Startup: Allows them to change the startup command and variables (like changing the server version).
-
Admin: Allows them to manage other sub-users. (Use with caution).
Step 4: Invite
Once you have selected the appropriate permissions, click the Invite User button.
The user will now see your server appear on their dashboard the next time they log in!
How to Remove a User
If you need to revoke access:
-
Go back to the Users tab.
-
Find the user in the list.
-
Click the Trash Can icon (or "Remove" button) next to their name.
-
Confirm the action. Their access will be instantly revoked.
Troubleshooting: "I received an invite, but I don't have a password!"
A common issue occurs when inviting a new user who has never used East Gate Hosting before. They will receive the email invite, click the link, and immediately see a login screen asking for a password they do not have.
This is normal behavior for new accounts. To access the panel, the new user must set their password manually:
-
On the Game Panel login screen, click the "Forgot Password?" link (usually located just above or below the "Login" button).
-
Enter the exact email address where the invite was received.
-
Click "Send Password Reset Email".
-
Check your email inbox (and spam folder) for a link.
-
Click the link to create your new password. You will then be able to log in and see the shared server.
Note: If the user already had an East Gate account, they do not need to do this. They can simply log in with their existing credentials, and the new server will appear on their dashboard automatically.
